General Curriculum
We encourage learning through play at NOAH'S ARK, as we believe it promotes development in all five important development areas - spiritual, physical, social, emotional and intellectual.
Spiritual development will be encouraged through experiencing God's love daily through the teachers. They will listen to Bible stories and bring them to life though dramatic play. They will learn how much God loves them and how He created the world for them.
The children's Physical development will be encouraged through fine motor activities like puzzles, threading beads, writing and tracing letters and numbers, stencils, playing with play dough and cutting with scissors. Their gross motor skills will be encouraged with activities such as running outside, sliding, riding toys, hopscotch, balancing, climbing on ropes, movement songs and games.
Social development will be encouraged through learning to work with others, playing properly with toys and learning how to care for others and the world in which they live. They will learn that God made everyone special and that we should treat others with love, patience and respect.
Emotional development will be encouraged firstly by teaching them how special they are to God and to us at Noah's Ark. They will learn to express their feelings through their words not actions. This will help them understand that all emotions are ok, but hitting, biting, screaming, etc are not. They will grow to understand at Noah's Ark there are consequences for negative behavior, but there is never a loss of love.
Intellectual development will be encouraged through the teaching of colors, shapes, letters and numbers. They will trace and, as they grow, learn to write their name as well as letters and numbers. The children will develop an appreciation for their world through learning about seasons and weather. They will experience science through play with magnets, water, sand, caring for plants in the playground and cooking.
